verbracht. Wann seid ihr dorthin gezogen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Das war in den Siebzigern. Meine Eltern waren jung, explosiv, Tr\u00e4umer, Idealisten, Partyg\u00e4nger, rastlos und beschlossen \u2013 nat\u00fcrlich \u2013 , dass ihr Platz im S\u00fcden Europas ist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Der S\u00fcden Europas hat viele spannende und sch\u00f6ne Orte. Warum ist die Wahl auf Ligurien gefallen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Ligurien ist einfach und authentisch, mit dem Meer, einem milden Klima, aufgeschlossenen und geselligen Menschen. Wir zogen in ein kleines Dorf im Landesinneren von Imperia, das ironischerweise Isolalunga hei\u00dft. Long Island. Meine Gro\u00dfmutter kommt aus New York.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Aber dieses Long Island befand sich wohl in einem viel kleineren Kosmos. Wie konnten deine weltgewandten Eltern dort Wurzeln schlagen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Unser Haus, die renovierte alte B\u00e4ckerei im Dorf, war ein f\u00fcnfst\u00f6ckiges Haus, voller Geschichten und Charme und immer voller Menschen. Es kamen Freunde aus der ganzen Welt.<\/p>\n<p>Solche, die mit Conrad Lawrence an der Erforschung von Ameisen arbeiteten und monatelang in einem Zelt auf dem Monte Faudo lebten, oder solche, die in der meeresbiologischen Forschung t\u00e4tig waren. G\u00e4ste, die aus Japan kamen und auf dem K\u00fcchentisch schliefen, weil die Matratze zu weich war. Aus Australien mit der neuesten Technologie und einmal sogar mit Miss Australia!<\/p>\n<p>Einige kamen aus Persien und lehrten mich eine andere und sch\u00f6ne Mathematik, einige verbrachten Stunden in Meditation auf dem Kopf stehend auf der Terrasse. Andere machten Pantomime-Theater, wieder andere dirigierten Orchester.<\/p>\n<p>Zwischendurch kam die alte Biologielehrerin meiner Mutter aus Massachusetts, die Nonne JP, die eine interessante Verbindung zur \u00f6rtlichen Kurie gekn\u00fcpft hatte und die uns durch die europ\u00e4ischen Hauptst\u00e4dte f\u00fchrte, indem sie in Kl\u00f6stern schlief.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Die Welt kam also zu dir nach Hause. Wie hat dich das als Kind gepr\u00e4gt?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Ich war ein stilles Kind, ich beobachtete und saugte Empfindungen auf, ich verstand viele Sprachen, war neugierig, sprach aber wenig. Ich lebte von dieser Vielfalt. Als Heranwachsende beschloss ich, meine gro\u00dfe Liebe zu den Tieren zu vertiefen, die in meiner etwas einsamen Kindheit im Winter in Ligurien immer meine besten Freunde waren. Ich wurde Tier\u00e4rztin, um den Tieren, auch den wilden, auf eigene Faust helfen zu k\u00f6nnen. Aber ich konnte mich nicht l\u00e4nger als ein paar Jahre in einem Atelier oder einer Klinik einschlie\u00dfen. Das Bed\u00fcrfnis nach Bewegung und Stimulation kehrte zur\u00fcck, das ich nur auf Reisen befriedigen konnte.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Wohin gingen deine ersten Reisen?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Als die Schule endete im Juni, brach ich mit meiner Mutter auf, um zwei Monate in den Vereinigten Staaten und Kanada zu verbringen, fasziniert von dieser Welt, die sich so sehr von Europa unterschied, von den riesigen R\u00e4umen, in denen alles gigantisch war, von der Milchflasche bis zu den W\u00e4ldern, Seen und W\u00fcsten. Dort erlebte ich den Reichtum der amerikanischen Bourgeoisie, die Abstammung von einem Helden des Unabh\u00e4ngigkeitskrieges (William Dawes), den \u00dcberfluss und den wirtschaftlichen Wohlstand. Dann kehrte ich im August nach Italien zur\u00fcck und fuhr mit meinem Vater nach Ungarn, wo sein Bruder lebte (er war nach der russischen Invasion von 1956 in Ungarn geblieben), um dort einen ganzen Monat zu verbringen, an der Donau, inmitten von Weinbergen und Mais- und Sonnenblumenfeldern. Hier standen wir um f\u00fcnf Uhr morgens auf, um das rationierte Brot zu holen, und mein Onkel bewahrte alles, was wir aus dem Westen mitbrachten, sorgf\u00e4ltig auf, angefangen bei den Plastikt\u00fcten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Das gro\u00df werden zwischen so vielen verschieben Kulturen, deine Reisen in so gegens\u00e4tzliche Welten \u2013 wie konntest du herausfinden, was von alledem du bist?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Die Vision dieser fernen Welten, die ich vor dem Fall der Mauer vorurteilsfrei und intensiv erleben durfte, hat meine Pers\u00f6nlichkeit und meine Lebensentscheidungen stark beeinflusst.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CP:<\/strong> Gibt es daf\u00fcr ein gutes Beispiel?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pamela:<\/strong> Das Abenteuer unseres Agriturismo! Zusammen mit meinem Mann haben wir auf den H\u00fcgeln oberhalb des Dorfes Isolalunga, wo ich als Kind immer Verstecken gespielt habe, langsam und m\u00fchsam einen wunderbaren Ort aufgebaut. Die M\u00f6glichkeit, meine gro\u00dfe Liebe zur Natur mit dem Gef\u00fchl des Willkommenseins zu verbinden, das ich seit meiner Kindheit in dem \u201coffenen\u201d Haus, in dem ich aufgewachsen bin, geatmet hatte. Wir haben einen offenen Ort f\u00fcr Reisende geschaffen, die es verstehen, das Geheimnis der weniger bekannten Orte zu l\u00fcften.
